Yule Forgive My Lack Of Glad Tidings

 Entry 1.   1:57 a.m.

No ghost came to visit me on the hour. I won't wake up a changed man. I will wake up with the anguished pleas of Jenny to stop the suffering still ringing in my head. I need her to get admitted today, she is suffering so. I have been awake worrying for nearly 24 hours, and sleep is about as close as the nearest star. Please let this Christmas be memorable for her, let it bring some sustenance for her soul, since she cannot eat anything less ethereal.  May the girls love their gifts and the celebratory atmosphere when my sisters come, and may the roads be clear enough to get to VM easily.

Entry 2     8:30 a.m.

Jenny is awake, and called me upstairs to visit. She told me she feels better this morning, which is good after last night, when she was in so much pain and so hungry she was begging to die. Christmas morning, let's hope it is peaceful.

Entry 3.    11:18 a.m.

Christmas morning is a success.  Jenny got a  stuffed Snoopy from Abby and genuinely loved it.  Abby was ecstatic. The girls got an onslaught of presents, but not a ridiculous amount, although certainly the most we ever spent.  Jenny also loves this contraption that will allegedly turn the bath into a jacuzzi. We will see later today if it works.  Jenny is very ill this morning,

nearly falling down as we prepared for the kids this morning, refusing to sit down.  She felt great, she said, and I believe she did.  But, as soon as we were done with presents, she threw up the finger jello she had for breakfast. She was hoping against hope we would not have to go to the hospital tonight.

I am sad she was sick, but the ritual was joyous for Jenny and the kids.

When we were finished, after Jenny was done being sick and Abby had gone downstairs, Leiney lost it. She had held together very well up to that point. She told Jenny she doesn't want this to be their last Christmas together. Nobody does.  God bless the children.

Entry 4.    4:12 p.m.
It is exhausting hosting solo, because Jenny can't do any of tasks required.
I have been non-stop since 7.  I am hiding out in my room now, resting, while the multitudes are downstairs. I keep dozing off, even as I write this.  Presents soon and then the yule log a friend brought us.
