The Weight

Image
5.16.2026 2014 was the last time I was under 150. I can say with certainty that I was walking 6 miles a day then, and the experience was far more pleasant than using a GLP-1 . That I am taking it to address diabetes is something of a consolation. The fact I was nauseous after eating a meal yesterday and unable and uninterested in eating today given I am at peak nausea makes this milestone less appealing this time. Also, isn't this weight drop dangerous for my heart? After 4.5 months I am down 23 lbs, and still falling. I am so food averse today that the trip to the all holy Costco on samplepalooza Saturday only made me more nauseous. Yuck. OTOH, I am down about 5 pant sizes. 5. I bought a pair of 30w pants today, and they are still too big. I haven't worn a pair of pants less than 30w since I dated Margy back in the mid-1980s. I attribute this to the loss of muscle mass attendant with the use of a GLP-1 .

Central Park, summer 2022 . I ordered an SUV and hotel rooms for our trip to Massachusetts and Mt. Holyoke the other day. Abby will have lots of stuff shipped to Jenny's best friend's house in Swansea. We will pick up the stuff the day after we arrive. The following day is orientation. I am already stressed about parking--nebbish fuck that I am. In a theme in my life that has happened a few times in the last year, I discovered extra money in my bank account yesterday. I filed my taxes on time, but the IRS took its sweet time sending my refund of almost 10k. I am not complaining and its certainly a game changer for the summer.   Leiney is going home on the 2nd, and then Jane and I will have a few days to explore Boston. I had a great time last summer wandering the streets of Boston's downtown with Abby. I didn't get to do all the exploring I would have liked, but I did have a lobster roll. I am excited to go again and see more of our early history. Friday night I had din...

Coincidence

Entry 1     10:57 p.m. This post feels like it needs to be a triptych.  Not a beginning, middle and end, but the day feels like it is three different days rolled into one.  It was full. Los Perros Malos have been moved downstairs to the dining area for sleeping quarters, the placement of the treadmill making their relocation necessary.  The good news is that meant the dogs wake up Leiney, still sleeping on the couch, who feels duty-bound to let them out and let me sleep. I woke hearing Buddy's bark. A notorious escape artist, I presumed he'd broken free from his cell. Turns out, Leiney as kind and conscientious as ever, let the dogs out. Returning to sleep was out of the question, so I got up. Our housecleaner arrived at 8:00 a.m.. Apparently the kitchen got short shrift today, according to Moni, who was over later in the day to clean the fridge out and then made some concoction for us to eat for dinner. I finally called a dishwasher repair guy, who w...
