It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World

Entry 1    10:10

"Are You Trying To Split Us Up So It Becomes Every Man For Himself, and Every Woman for Himself?"

Yesterday was more than a bit demoralizing.  We bid 31.78 percent over asking, and still got bupkus. 5

bids down the drain, each more insane.  This market is just too much.  I looked at the inspection report for the other home we were looking at, and it had more fixes than a day at the races at Longacres.  31.78 percent over asking.  The winner offered about 33%--but who knows what their escalator looked like.  Whoever paid the price, spent way too much, just as we were prepared to do.  Up In Smoke.

That was far from the worst news from yesterday.  A high school alum of Jenny's, a dad with three young kids, died 144 days after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. That threw us both off for the day.  I was unpleasant to be around last night, I was so cranky. I couldn't get out of the funk.  I painted the bright side as best I could for Jenny.  I said, this shows how strong you are.  This also shows that its the genetic lottery, no matter what you do or try to do, if or when this disease kills you, I told her, it isn't for her lack of fight.  Short of selling her soul, nothing will stop stage IV pancreatic cancer from exacting its toll.

And, so here we are, houseless, hopeless and hapless.  If I could throw in a few pratfalls I would.  Does this rise to the level of a Divine Comedy or even The Human Comedy? Maybe, just maybe, its Three's Company worthy.

  1. This is the hottest housing market in history. Though it feels crummy right now, you are better off losing bids than overpaying at the height of the hysteria.
