You know,” said Arthur, “it’s at times like this, when I’m trapped in a Vogon airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep space that I really wish I’d listened to what my mother told me when I was young. “Why, what did she tell you?” “I don’t know, I didn’t listen.”

Life can be unbendingly painful, make moving hard to do, moving forward almost impossible--a lot like my left knee. I went to bring in the garage and food waste bins in this morning, and found that someone had carefully gone through the recycling bin, casting down my neighbor's slope those recyclables that didn't catch their
fancy. On the bright side, the extra cardboard that had been outside of the bin, had been taken away, so it found a second use, which should make me pleased. They were not as careful as the debris would have left one to expect. Each empty prescription drug bottle had been opened, but they did not open Jenny's THC pill bottle. It wasn't empty. So, opportunity missed and a reason not to hire them for sorting at the recycle factory. I'd suggest not quitting their day job if they were to ask. That would presume this isn't their primary job, which I have to believe isn't true. I find it interesting that no other neighbor had their garbage sorted through. Time to get those additional lights up.

| After I picked up a lot of the refuse, I paused to take a snap. The hill really was that steep. Had I fallen, I would have landed in a blackberry bramble. |

Today is a better day than yesterday, but just.
I have met our neighbors across from us, whose yellow home looks down over our property. Saad is the father, I didn't get his son's name. They brought me over to their place and gave me grapes from their back yard, which was super kind. They told me that the land adjacent to ours used to have a homeless encampment on it, but that since the blackberry bushes took over and covered the path, the dwellers have not returned. He also noted that all the theft was coming from the woods. The blackberry's are thick now and 10 and 20 feet high in places, not scalable or easily Saad also told me that this house of mine was built with only the finest materials. I could have told you that, but confirmation is always appreciated.
They have lived here 24 years, know all of their neighbors, and told me that are all very good. Saad's son is going to be a school counselor, he is getting his master's now at SPU, and intends to work in Highline when he has earned his credential.
They were great. The neighbors here are very friendly, very friendly.
